How to Secure Your Cell Phone

How secure is your cell phone against threats such as cell phone spy software? Just think for a moment about all of the information stored on your cell phone and how you would feel if it fell into the wrong hands. As our phones have become more complex we use them for more and more things but this leaves us open to attack, from a security point of view.

Cell phone spy software is very powerful and can be very intrusive. Most people are shocked when they learn what this type of software is able to do but it does have one flaw. Any cell phone spy or monitoring program needs to be physically installed on to the target cell phone. Our job is to secure or cell phones and stop the software being installed in the first place. So how do we do this?

There is the glaringly obvious one – don’t let anyone have access to your phone. This may work well to stop strangers targeting you but what about if it is someone you know and trust. Think about how and when you may leave your phone unattended, even for a few minutes. Software like this can be installed on your phone in under 5 min by someone who knows what they are doing. Keeping your phone totally to yourself may not be as easy as you first think.

The best and easiest way to stop anyone installing spy software on your phonecell phone security is to set up a good password lock. All cell phones have the ability to be locked using a password. Just think for a moment how many of us use this feature and if we do – are we using the standard 1234 or something similar.

Think up a good password which no one will be able to guess, better still use a dedicated password app. There are loads of free apps available for cell phones which make it really easy to use passwords which cannot be hacked or guessed. Search on the Google Play store for Android apps or the Apple Store for the iPhone.

For those who want to take things a step further there are dedicated anti-virus and anti-spyware programs which will flag up spy software if it is installed on your phone. The good ones may cost you a few dollars but they will be well worth it. If cell phone security is a major issue for you should consider some of the paid options and take that extra step to keep your cell phone safe.

Being aware of the threats is half the battle. Knowing that these monitoring programs are available and what they’re capable of will help keep you one step ahead. Even taking a few simple steps can drastically improve your cell phone security.
